Kenya holidays give you the chance to lock eyes with the Big Five and escape the daily grind on the beaches of the Indian Ocean.
World-famous safaris
The words Kenya and safari go together like Timon and Pumba – you can’t speak about one without mentioning the other. It’s easy to see why – the country’s home to more than 20 national parks, which span landscapes like the Great Rift Valley and the snow-capped Mount Kenya mountain range. The latter of the two’s home to Africa’s second-highest peak, behind Kilimanjaro.
Tsavo and Maasai Mara
Kenya’s one of East Africa’s major players when it comes to untouched natural beauty. Game drives to Nairobi National Park, Maasai Mara National Park and the twin Tsavo reserves show off the best of it. Black rhinos and red elephants cavalcade through Tsavo East, and traditional warriors pogo jump their way through ceremonial dances in Maasai Mara.
Unspoilt beaches
Safaris aside, there’s another face to Kenya. The country’s coastline gives the Caribbean a run for its money. In Diani Beach, white sands are skewered with palm trees, and the hotels that cosy up to the sand come with lagoon-like pools and gourmet restaurants. Plus, most of the east coast beach resorts are within daytripping distance of Kenya’s second-largest city, Mombasa.
