This 6 day tour to Rwanda and Uganda will let you explore some of Africa’s exclusive wildlife including Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzees and African big five mammals like Lions, African Elephant, Cape Buffalos and various antelope types. Its active in nature since it involves volcano hiking, Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking. These will be coupled with amazing Landscapes, culture and historic encounters in both countries.
Itinerary
Uganda and Rwanda National Park
Day 1 – Arrival to Kigali and transfer to Kisoro near Mgahinga national park
This day starts with your driver guide picking you up from Kigali international airport and embarking on an exciting road drive to the extreme south western Uganda. A stopover for lunch will be made en route. The dense rain forests of Bwindi and Mgahinga, famous for their gorilla population, are one of the most fertile and rich in the world, being homes to a variety of primates, animals, insects and exotic birds. On arrival, check in at the lodge for relaxation, Dinner and overnight stay at Kisoro Travelers rest Hotel as you wait for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2 – Full day volcano hike (Mout Sabinyo) and transfer to Bwindi Gorilla land
After breakfast at 8:00am the hiking adventure begins. Your tour guide will transfer you to the starting point. You will need to have hiking gears and also a good level of fitness. The mountain Sabinyo adventure is one of the most memorable activities in Mgahinga. The top of this Volcano has a spectacular crater lake. It is simply a 6 – hours hike including the 2 hours descending down to the starting point. Have lunch and continue with the journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Diner and overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp.

Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing by park ranger guides, depart with picnic lunch boxes to start Gorilla trekking – the activity can last up to 4 hours trek or more to find the Mountain Gorillas as you hike up and down the slopes with dense mist covered vegetation. Hence you will have packed lunch for this activity. This active quest will eventually bring you to the face of one of the most sought after creatures-the mountain Gorillas. Upon reaching them, you will have a full hour with them while observing and learning their behavior as you take photos. You will later transfer the Ishasha sector in the Southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park, arriving in the evening. You may do an evening game drive in the Ishasha sector. You will have dinner and overnight Enjojo Lodge.

Day 4 – Transfer through Ishasha-Tree climbing Lions search-transfer to Mweya for the Kazinga channel boat
After having an early morning breakfast at the lodge, your driver will drive you to the Ishasha sector. You will embark on the game drive that will give you a chance to see tree climbing lions. You will be amazed to see them resting on the branches of fig trees during afternoon hours. In the afternoon hours you will drive to Mweya for a launch cruise along Kazinga channel. You will appreciate the high scores of Elephants, Hippos, Buffalos and crocodiles. A number of bird species will also be seen along including the Great Pelicans. Diner and overnight at Elephant Hab Lodge.

Day 5 – Chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu central forest and transfer to Kabale
Have an early morning breakfast and head to Kalinzu Forest for Chimpanzee tracking to meet man’s closet cousins in the wild. You will be amazed to see these primates as they play, swing on tree branches, fight for food etc. Kalinzu central forest’s jungle life is a breathtaking one especially for botanists, bird lovers and primate lovers! On this expedition, a list of potential forest edge animals can be encountered such as Vervet Monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys and butterflies. You will transfer to Kabale for an overnight and dinner at Cephas Inn.

Day 6 – Transfer from Kabale to Kigali international airport via the Genocide museum
After having breakfast or lunch depending on your scheduled flight times, jump a border crossing journey to Rwanda and later transfer to Kigali international airport to readily catch your flight back home as you say farewell to the African wilderness. You may possibly visit the Genocide memorial Museum in Kigali.
