3-Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Through Rwanda

Day 1: Kigali – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Meet your Ngoni Safaris driver-guide in Kigali and drive through Rwanda’s scenic countryside to Uganda via the Cyanika border. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, check in at your lodge and relax. Enjoy dinner and prepare for gorilla trekking the following morning.

Overnight: Bweza Lodge
Meals: Lunch and dinner, depending on arrival time.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point. Trek through Bwindi’s rainforest in search of mountain gorillas and spend up to one hour observing them in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, with an optional Batwa cultural experience at an additional cost.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Bwindi – Kigali

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali via the Cyanika border. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy an optional Kigali city tour, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, before your transfer to Kigali International Airport.

Important Travel Information

Gorilla permits: Trekking is subject to permit availability and confirmation for your preferred date and sector. The permit should be secured before travel.

Border crossing: Travellers must carry valid passports and satisfy the applicable entry, visa and immigration requirements for both Rwanda and Uganda. Confirm that your travel documents permit the planned border crossing.

Trekking conditions: Bwindi is a tropical rainforest with steep, sometimes muddy trails. Trekking may take several hours, and a gorilla sighting cannot be guaranteed. A ranger-led trek and compliance with park regulations are mandatory.

Travel schedule: Day 3 activities depend on road conditions, border processing and your flight departure time. We recommend allowing sufficient time for the transfer to Kigali International Airport.

Accommodation: Bweza Lodge is suggested for the Rushaga area. Final accommodation is subject to availability and confirmation at the time of booking.
